About UsAbout Us
A cappella at Illinois State University has been a rather new concept. Founded in 2004, Secondary Dominance was the second group to spring up on campus, and the premier all-female ensemble. The girls sing primarily pop music, with some Broadway, rock, country, and a lot of fun mixed in. The vast majority of Secondary Dominance's repertoire is arranged by one of the eleven members of the group. Since its creation, Secondary Dominance has been constantly gaining support and trying new things to make their mark on the a cappella world. They currently give concerts every semester and go on a fall high school tour in the Chicago suburbs, as well as singing at various events at Illinois State and around the Bloomington-Normal community. The girls have also been known to do ridiculous things to get money in their bank account, including their world famous peanut butter and jelly sandwich sales. This year, Secondary Dominance is hoping to record their very first amateur album, so look forward to taking a little bit of SD home with you! Although the group is only in its fifth year, Secondary Dominance is constantly moving forward and has big plans for the future!
